Typical mainstream novels run about 100,000 words (about 350 pages.) But if the writing is good, shorter or longer won't matter if it sells.

If it is a bad book, too long...
If it is a good book, too few...

In seriousness it really depends on the Genre. Generally publishers begin to consider a novel length manuscript (again genre dependant) at 40,000 words or more. The average Fantasy Epic runs between 100,000 and 120,000 words. Stephen King's tomes can run into the 200,000.

200-300 pages. If it is under about 40 pages then it would be classified as a short story (Poe said a short story is any story that is meant to be read in one sitting). There are also the epics "War and Peace" etc. that can be over 1,000 pages in length! Ray Bradbury in his notes on Fahrenheit 451 said that at first it was 12,500 words, but then the published wanted it twice that long, so he had to rework a lot of it.

In short, it is not uncommon, at all, to have novels that are 150-500 pages, but most fall in the 200-300 page category, and they have about 300-400 words per page.

I think the average length of a novel / book is approximately 300-500 pages.

It depends on the genre.

Mysteries would be shorter on average than fantasy novels, for example.

Overall average... I'd say 350-400 pages. Or 90,000 words.

You can go to Amazon and check page length on a dozen books or so and average it out.

If you're writing, you want to keep your first work in the 75,000 - 100,000 word range. Below 75,000 it's considered a "novella" and above 100,000 is hard to get published if you're not an established writer.
