Is it possible that Bushie is playing politics with our servicemen? Bush will rather NOT appropriate the funds that is in the Dems bill... Bush wants America to think that the Dems are keeping the money but in fact, Bushie can line-item veto anything that he doesnt like in the funding bill.

Clinton was the first president to exercise the veto, which he did 82 times last year. Many of the vetoed programs are under court challenges and should now win their appeals.

Stevens was joined in his opinion by Chief Justice William Rehnquist and Justices Anthony Kennedy, David Souter, Clarence Thomas and Ruth Bader Ginsburg..... hmmmm Clarence Thomas shot down the Line Item Veto power in 1998? what political affiliation is Thomas? i'm totally confused.

its sheer folly that Conservatives shoot down a power whilst a Dem is in power.

This could be very true....In the convoluted area that is Bush's mind.. he may be thinking that if he just lets it look like the Dem's are not giving more money on a lost cause.. then he can wash his hands of the whole thing.. sit back and whine that he could have won the war.. but he was handcuffed...None of this would surprise me.. the only thing that would make no sense is if Bush thought it up himself.. this is the work of wily old Cheney.. and Rove.. the two evil masterminds behind the robot.

Good point you brought up.

He can??? Does the line item veto exist?

Please, please, show me a link, somewhere! I know Reagan asked for it, but I thought it never made it through congress.

I am not arguing with you. I want to know, and I'll thank you for showing me a link.

There is no "line item veto" power. That has continually been struck down because it would turn our way of government onto its ear.
