Kick terrorist butt, and take names, is American Policy. Mess with the wrong people, and you get screwed.
Other countries hate America because we are the only ones to stand against terrorism, in a strong, forceful way. Most countries in the world have tolerated terrorism, Spain, for example, even England by the Northern Irish, to some degree. Other countries are angry and jealous, in my opinion, that they didn't have the guts, strength, fortitude, or power to beat the living tar, out of these terrorist wacko, selfish, angry, bastards, who would deem to rule free societies, by murdering innocent people. Stand-up, with US for Pete's sake! If you don't, and you're not, then you lose, and are controlled by irrational freaks!

The officially stated goals of the foreign policy of the United States, as mentioned in the Foreign Policy Agenda of the U.S. Department of State, are "to create a more secure, democratic, and prosperous world for the benefit of the American people and the international community."

Examples of that range from military action (just like Iraq), economic sanctions (Cuba, South Africa during Apartheid), aid in forms such as USAID and the Peace Corps, just to name a few.

A country's policy is: WHAT does this country want to do?. So for example the US wants to fight terrorism.

But some people might "hate" the US if because of it's policy the invade their country and then they live at war for years. So those wars are the implementation of the US policy.

American foreign policy would fill volumes. It's everything from who we target with nuclear weapons to deter attack, to where we have military bases, to whom we give aid, to what taxes we charge on foriegn goods, to how we vote (and wield security council veto power) in the UN, to what treaties we sign, to, of course, how we react to acts of war, and upon whom we choose to make war, ourselves.

The sheer scale of US foriegn policy points to the simplest reason the US is hated for it: they resent the influence wielded by outsiders over thier interests, and the 'contamination' of thier own societies by America's debased, polyglot, consumerist culture.

For the last six+ years, the american foreign policy has been one of pre-emptive war, occupation, and subjugation.

Asking 'why do other countries hate us for it' shows that you have obviously not been paying attention for quite a while.

Apparently our policy is intimidation and bribery to benefit the controlling interest of major multinational corporations.

Our Foreign policy under the REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION is to kill.
IRAQ for example.
Sovereign Country.
Had nothing to do with 911.
Bin ladens enemy in fact.
THE REPUBLICANS ADMINSTRATION policy is to kill.
Then they fold their hands ....scrunch up their eyes ...and pray.
For more people to kill.
