x^2 + 8x + 16 = 0
(x + 4) (x + 4) = 0
x = -4

3x^2 = 2x + 5

3x^2- 2x -5 = 0
(3x-5)(x+1) = 0

3x -5 = 0 ... x = 5/3
x + 1 = 0... x = -1

x = 5/3 and x = -1

1. x^2+8x+16=0
(x+4)(x+4)=0
x=-4
2.3x^2-2x-5=0
(3x-5)(x+1)
x= 5/3 or -1
plug numbers into equation to see if the solution works.

Add the 16 on the 1st problem on the other side of the equation. get 0 on the right side. factor as (x+4)(x+4)=0, so therefore, x= -4. factor the second one as (3x-5)(x+1)=0, therefore x=5/3 and x= -1
