Is it better to lose weight and Completely shed all your fat before starting to build your body???

I want to lose weight completely and become pencil thin before I start building my body because that way the muscles that I develop will be concrete quality and solid rock hard. Whereas if I start building my body without losing weight, I am worried that the muscles will be soft, because they will be muscles mixed with fat. At the gym people say I am crazy for wanting to become pencil thin before I start building.

Are there any experts on men's fitness that can give me good advice?

Don't do it, If you get pencil thin first your skin may sag depending on how fast you lose the fast. A healthy way to go about it is to weight lift and work on burning the fast at the same time. So once you lost the weight you'll notice your muscles emerging from underneath. I've lost 75+ pounds over a period of five years and I lost the bulk of that weight last summer. Combine weight lifting and fat burning, better yet go to your local gym and just ask the trainers for some advice on your situation and see what they say.

you should go to the YMCA and have a body analysis done and then you will know how much lean muscle you have. Then the trainer can set up a plan to help you with your goals. muscle tissue is more metabolically active than fat so you will want to do resistance training to build up muscle tissue and this will help you to lose fat. If you strive to become pencil thin first, you aren't helping yourself any....you will no doubt lose muscle tissue unless you are eating properly and it will take you twice the amount of time to build your body then if you were to just start a body building routine right from the start.

The people at the gym are "right on." As you exercise you lose fat and develop muscle. Losing weight to become "pencil thin" can be dangerous and lead to medical problems.

I can tell that you are very young and not very experienced. If you go your route you would loose all of your muscle mass too. You would be too weak to do any benificial excercise. The only thing that would be rock hard is your brain.

Any excercise will be good at toning muscels and getting rid of body fat, from there you have to do power excercise.

have you ever seen the body builders in offseason? they get fat. the reason for this is it is so much easery to turn fat into muscle. most people who are bigger when the work out shed the fat when the work out and actually get much bigger muscle wise. a small person usually has to train twice as much or more to get the same result.

I THINK THAT YOU ARE OVERDOING IT QUITE A LOT. TOO MUCH EXERCISE WOULD CAUSE A GREAT IMBALANCE OF OXYGEN METABOLISM. THIS WILL PUSH YOU TO SOME VERY GRAVE HEALTH DISORDERS.
WEIGHT REDUCTION AND BODY BUILDING PROCESS ESSENTIALLY REQUIRES THAT YOU MAINTAIN BASAL METABOLISM RATE REQUIRED. PLEASE CONSULT A GOOD INTERNAL MEDICINE PHYSICIAN
