I don't want a name that every other little girl her age will have, but I don't want something entirely off the wall either. I have always liked the name Ava, but lately I have heard it being used a lot more. Her older brother is Adam, and I think the names go well together. I'm confident I will use the name when she is FINALLY born, but I was just looking for some input.

I love this name!! If I had another girl I would name her this. It is getting common but who cares? You will never find a nice name that people aren't using. Go for it and good luck with the baby.

According to the social security administration Ava was the 9th most popular name of 2005. They haven't came out with a list for 2006 but on another list I was looking at, Ava was #1 in 2006. It's a popular name. There are other A names you could look into as well... Good Luck!

The name is very, very popular. I teach preschool and we have a couple Ava's already and now a new 2 year old Ava registered today and I know a one year old named Ava as well. This is in one small town at one school! I do like it a lot though and if you like it don't worry about the popularity. I have a million Hailey and Hannah's and they are all fine. :)

I am sorry to report but according to the Social Security Admin. (the dept in the govt. that tracks names) (web site: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ )
Ava was the 9th most popular girl name in 2005 and I read somewhere it went up to 3rd in the country last year - so it is becoming the new Jennifer. My hubby loves Ava but I wouldnt use it because it is so popular - I like Eve, which is very underated, and so we put together Ava and Eve and got Eva. Eva would be a really nice compliment to Adam. I know you want to stick with the A, but that is a less common, as pretty name to Ava.

I wish you much luck! Congrads:)

I love that name. Reese Witherspoon named her daughter Ava before it was really popular and I fell in love with it. Now there are lots of Ava's (depending on where you live) but it is so simple an beautiful that I wouldn't even care. I had a boy though so no luck but if I have agirl next Ava is a frontrunner along with Avery.

I am affraid that it has become very popular. My bestfriend is naming her daughter Ava, and it just seems that it is poping up everywhere... I really dont care for it becuase it is so common and kinda borning... But if it is something that you really like I think you should go for it... I grew up with a name that every girl my age had, my name is Jessica, and in the 80's everyone was in love with that name... Good Luck!

I like the name Ava. It is however one of the top names for the year, but I don't think that lots of little girls will have that name.

Reese Witherspoon named her girl Ava...not a common name (from what I've heard). A lot of people are naming their kids weird names...
Ava's a really pretty name; it's a good choice.

Number one for 2006. :(

It is a very beautiful name, but I would never name my child a top ten name. The year I was born (1989), my name was number six and there were three Stephanies in my grade of 56 children. I'm not going to do the math, there, but that's a really high number, in my opinion.

If you did name your daughter Ava, she could be one of perhaps five Avas in her grade.

Finally, you will name Ava. Yes.

Since my classmate named Ava, there was no Ava except Avis which is part of Ava. But, before she was away for military, I consider that Ava named her daughter Avalon, Avangeline or else.
