I'm asking about the one where the man is married and is seeing some other girl.

Well IMHO a mistress is "kept." The man pays for the apartment and her clothes etc... If he's just cheating on his wife, it's cheaper than having a mistress.

A mistress implies some loyalty...

A "mistress" is a woman who is having an affair and carrying out a realtionship with a marry man. A "mistress" is the woman who doesn't miss the stress that the wife has to deal with and put up with........

A mistress is a woman who is taken care of by a married man (rent/car/expensive presents/etc.). Just an affair is when there is no financial support provided by the man. Don't do it - it is just one step away from being a wh*re.
