does anyone remember this . it's about a dog who runs away and when he comes back home he is so covered in mud that his family do not recognise him.

I love that book and so do my kids. I think you can still get it at Borders. We bought a new copy of it a few years ago (2-3) at Borders, or maybe it was Barnes and Noble. Anyway-- It is still out there and still a fantastic book.
