You are not alone. I have suffered with extreme anxiety and OCD since i was a bout 8 years old. I am now 29. Yes the swelling of your throat is a definite anxiety issue it happened to me a lot. You feel like you heart is beating a million miles an hour, you feel, dizzy, tummy is upset, have to go to the bathroom and want to jump out of your skin these are all related to Anxiety. I have been on ever kind of med they make. Do not take Celexa I gained 45 lbs from it. as soon as i got off it i lost it so i know it was the meds. I had Zoloft but i would have burst of anger. I am now on Effexor it is wonderful I have been on it for almost 2 years at first it messed me up a bit but they all will until your body gets used to it. You have also been through a very traumatic experience. Did the anxiety just begin after your misscarge, if so you may just need some xanex then when you feel anxious they can calm you down really fast until this hard time passes, good luck. Please time to reach me if you have any questions or I can help you . Anxiety is difficult to deal with.

The last symptom you described does sound like anxiety. I have had anxiety and panic attacks, but I have never taken Zoloft, so I don't know much about it. Any side effects should be minimal. Now I am on a combination of Klonopin and Cymbalta because I also have clinical depression. This combination works better for me than any other I have been on. I have tried Paxil, Lexapro, Wellbutrin and Xanax. All of these caused sexual side effects. The Klonopin and Cymbalta combination doesn't.
I hope you will try it, but you need to give it time. Sometimes it can take up to 6 weeks to feel the full effect, but also as little as 5-7 days. You should also get therapy even with the Zoloft. Some people, after a period of time with a good therapist, can stop medication all together.
Good luck.

You poor thing! Please try your Zoloft! I am on it and it has changed my life. This is not to say that it will definitely work for you, but you should sat least give it a shot. People tend to think that depression/anxiety are not medical, but the truth is that they are. This is not a condition you can control. If you had a any other physical illness that required medication you would take it, right? I also tried herbal supplements before Zoloft and they did nothing except make me so tired I could barely function. Keep in mind that if it's the "stigma" of taking an anti-depressant that bothers you, no one else has to know about it. This is your business and you don't have to tell anyone!

I took Zoloft for a few months after my divorce. I too hesitated to take it because I didn't want to get 'hooked" on anything or take anything that made me feel strange. I've never been big on taking pills. My doctor asked me one day if I would take heart medication if I had a problem with my heart or antibiotics if I had an infection. Of course I answered yes. He then said - depression and anxiety are physical disorders and there is no logical reason whatsoever that you wouldn't take the appropriate medication for them. Once I started - I felt immensely better. I had no side-effects at all and when I felt ready to quit, my doctor just had me cut back to 1/2 a pill a day for a week or two. Give it a try. It is much better than feeling like you do! You are having physical symptoms that need to be treated.

Follow your doctor's advise and begin the Zoloft prescription. However, don't expect a change over night. You need to take the medication for at least 2 months for it to help your anxiety. If your not prepared to give it a fair trial, my advice is to not start a medication. Zoloft is now available as a generic prescription and has been tested for over 20 years on millions of patients.

O.k let me just go ahead and tell you what i think about Zoloft.I hate that stuff and it sucks. When my doctor perscribed it to me it was because i had alot of depression.Well i began taking the medicine like i should and about a month later everytime that i would take it it would make me really paranoid and nervous.I couldn't sit still and i had all these weird thoughts in my head and they were all rushing around and it made me dizzy just trying to think.I stopped taking the Zoloft and my doctor perscribed me WellburtrinXL,let me tell you that stuff sucks too it made me feel like i had no emotions,i didnt want to talk to anybody or even move around.Well now im not taking either medication and im o.k.Now the Zoloft might react differently to you but im just tellin you what they did to me.GOOD LUCK!

it's obvious you have an anxiety problem. And you might find that a low dose anxiolitic would be more effective than an anti-depressant like Zoloft. There are several that do not have the side effects that some do. Suggest instead of seeing your regular doctor, you consult a psychiatrist, they are better versed in mental health drugs and can be much more effective in dealing with your problems.

I take 200 MG a day for panic and anxiety and I love my Zoloft. The side effects go away after a awhile. I couldn't live without it. It is the best. If you do start taking it, it will take a while for it to start working, so don't get frustrated, and then if you have to stop taking it, don't just stop taking it, you will have to ween yourself off of it. But it is awesome for Panic and for anxiety. I say go for it! It is now in a generic form so it is cheaper now too!

Yes, for sure. Anxiety and stress are the cause of many illnesses and body reactions. Are you able to get away? Like on vacation near the water? I know this can do miracles, just being surrounded by peace and tranquility. But I guess you can try the drug, I mean, if you do not like the side effects you can just stop taking it. You can also consult with another doctor to get a second opinion, they are human too. Good luck :)

Stay away from Zoloft and other SSRIs unless you are seeing a shrink as well. You should start a good exercise program. Stress can sometimes be controlled with physical activity. Stay chemical free unless a last resort.
