Your doctor is the one who puts you on the right birth control pills. From my experience and many other women, STAY AWAY FROM DEPO PROVERA!

I agree with the STAY AWAY FROM DEPO. It causes a lot of crap to happen to your body. I was on it for FOUR years and there is only one good thing about the shot, and that is no periods and its only given once every three months. There are sooo many negatives, I can't believe they still have it for use on women! Weight gain, mood swings, loss of libido, etc. You need a bone density check after five years since it screws with bone health, etc.
I am on Kariva (pill) and have had no horrid side affects.
You would have to consult with your doctor and they will help you choose with method of birth control is for you.
If they offer up depo, say NO!

I take Yasmin. It's the one birth control pill that doesn't make you gain weight. I've used it for about three years and I love it. I never get cramps anymore. It also cleared my skin a lot, and again, I don't gain weight from it, whereas other people gain weight with their birth control pills. I would highly suggest it.

It's different for every woman. What works well for me might not work well for you and vice versa. Go see your doctor and ask her to reccomend a pill or other method that would be good for you.(based on your medical history, weight, age, family history, etc.)
That being said, I have heard horror stories about LoEstrin (the one that's supposed to make your period only last 3 days) from everyone I know that's ever used it. Same deal-bled all month long. Wouldn't reccomend trying that one.
I like Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, I've been taking it for about 8 months now, but it may or may not work for you. I went through several different pills before I found one that worked for me. I used the NuvaRing for a year and I liked that as well.
Good luck :)

The Mirena IUD is by far the best option for most women. It has an effective rate of over 99%. Better than a vacestomy. I have had mine for about 6 months and love it.

Tough question, it all depends on how your body reacts to different things. Yasmin has worked well for me, but is very pricey if you dont have insurance.

depending on your age I would suggest the depo shot---it has the same affect as the pill---but you dont have to remember to take it every day.....I think you have to have the shot once every 6 months....
