we just got a mattress and boxspring from a friend and they smell of wood smoke

Use fabreze and take both the mattress and box spring outside to sun, if you live where you can. Spring cleaning used to always consist of airing the mattress and box springs. If you can't take them outside, sit them up, inside your room, spray them good and let them air, with the windows open, that should do it.

febreze works wonders it takes the smell out of almost anything!!!

Spray with Lysol and them them air out in the sun....:)
