I assume that you have a number for the garage. you should call them and at least leave a message tonight, explain what has happened. tomorrow call the garage again and ask them nicely if they will pay for the damage caused by their neglect. If they refuse you need to write them a letter asking for full written justification for not securing the bonnet of the car before taking payment and allowing you to drive off. tell them to respond in 7 working days. send the letter recorded delivery and keep a copy. that should do the trick. they will think that you will take them to court and that will cost them more in the long run so they may offer you a settlement. If they do respond in writing and do not offer to settle you have evidence to take to court. if they do not respond at all you have the evidence of the recorded letter details and a copy of the letter you sent, to take them to a small claims court. good luck!

If it was mechanical repair, and they simply left the bonnet unlatched then your problem as it's up to you to check your car is fit for the road. If it was front end bodywork repair then probably fault of repairers. In either case you should try and get comp from repairers.

Once you have accepted the car and driven away you are responsible. However, if you can prove that the garage was negligent in its repair work then you have a good case against them. Your insurance should cover the damage anyway.

Was any paperwork signed? Can you prove that the damges caused to your car were incurred because of the faulty repair work they did? It's one thing to complain it's another to logically be able to explain the problem without getting huffy and puffy.
Take the car back to the mechanic and explain the problem to him, if it can't be resolved get an unbiased third party involved.

i own a repair shop and i agree with you on this one you need to go back and show them the damage i think they should have to pay for it,they might not want to but since they was the last people to work on it this makes them responsible for it,so go back to them they legally have to pay for this and they know it,they wont, want to but they will have to eventually pay for it,good luck, don't give up the fight on this one, good luck with it.
