Last update was an appellate court in Mexico heard their appeal to drop the case on April 16. No decision has been published yet.

On February 16, 2007, a Mexican Federal court cleared the way for Duane Chapman to be extradited, ruling there was no reason not to try him with the charge of deprivation of liberty in Mexico.[14]

On February 23, 2007, Hawaii State Representatives Gene Ward, Karen Awana, Rida Cabanilla, Lynn Finnegan, Barbara Marumoto, Colleen Meyer, Kymberly Pine, Joe Bertram, Ken Ito, Marylin Lee, and John Mizuno introduced HCR50, "Requesting the President of Mexico and the Second District Court of Guadalajara to drop extradition charges against TV Bounty Hunter, Duane 'Dog' Chapman"

On March 07, 2007, legislators in the International Affairs Committee of the Hawaii State House passed a resolution that asks the Mexican government to drop the extradition proceedings against Duane, Leland and Tim Chapman.

What happened to The Bounty Hunter was definitely an injustice. He captured one of the most sought out people in the world, and for this he is being punished. I think that the Max Factor heir should give, better yet, pay for him and his family's legal costs.

Unfortunately, laws are laws, and he did break them. I highly think that the gov't in Mexico will drop any of the charges. They will show the world that they mean business and they will use Dog and family to show the world that you must follow laws. No matter where you are.

He has had a very difficult time as of late. His daughter being killed in a car crash on his wedding day, then his run in with the law himself. I personally think that they should drop the charges, he did this on his own time, with his own money. He should be given a medal for this act, not behind bars.

I don't know every little detail about the situation.. But from my understanding, he broke Mexican law.. It's one thing to do the Bounty Hunting in a place where you are licensed, etc.. It is another to go to another country and do something that is against their laws.

Of course, it is great that he captured the person and all that. From my understanding, the person he caught was a rapist or something like that.

HOWEVER, being someone that is trying to bring in those who have done things that are against the law.. he, of all people, needs to follow the laws of the land as well.

It's hard to say if the US would deny the extradition because they could set themselves up for quite a lot of debate on whether they felt that he was "above the law", etc.. Though, the US could deny it if they felt that the law or the gov't there was not valid, etc.. Then they could fight it somehow I guess.

Also.. His celebrity status should have absolutely nothing to do with what choices are made. But they surely will.

Beth and Dog were just on Glen Beck (I don't always watch him, only when he has someone interesting), and they said there was no decision yet. Dog did a great thing by capturing this rapist, I don't care where he had to go to get him. He was a fugitive in the U.S. and Dog had the right to go after him.
