The line has to be drawn somewhere and if swearing is ok, then something else is ok - eventually it would be a site just full of filth and they would lose all the respectable members - and parents would keep their kids off. ( I KEEP MINE OFF NOW !! )
So yes, they are right.

Yes, cos there is already much bad influence around the world. I cant stand another minute to see this world getting uglier. The change we want to see in the world begins by ourselves. Yahoo Answers encourages it by censoring swear words.

Yes because of the kids that have over run Y!A.
But if Yahoo would only have and adult site also the kids would be kept out and anyone sensitive enough to be offended by "words" could go to the other place.

they need to because there are juniors on here and unlike yahoo chat they can go anywhere on Y/A.......

At the same time though the kids could probably teach us some swear words.........

We have all heard them so its no biggy Y/A need to stay within the guidelines of the governing bodies........

Y/A gave me a violation for this Q Oiiii did you eat my cake why do you think that was, they also deactivated my account hence the new name why they did this I dont know, I never used swear words...............

It's a free service and they get to make the rules. We can either follow the rules or go somewhere else. If the rules are unreasonable and they start losing customers, they might change the rules. But it is there service and they can put as many or as few restrictions as they want...free speech rights do not apply in a private forum like this.

I would prefer if there was no censorship, or at least a section without it (I would ALWAYS be there!) why...because people would really say what they want to say. Now, sometimes you dont do it because you (me) are afraid or getting super-reported, or censored, or whatever. That is no fun;)

Some of the questions asked on Y!A do make you want to swear...but children use Y!A and it's not fair for them to come accross swearing, even though in this day and age most of them swear more than the majority of us adults. Y!A is doing all it can to make it a safe and friendly place to visit.

Yes,it makes it more challenging, thus forcing us to use our dictionary and brain, rather then the swearing and slang we have come so accustom to using in every day life.If you want to talk like a truck driver,I'm sure we are all welcome back in our local seedy taverns, where the lights flicked out 6 months ago,and they hold a karaoke/ling-ere competition simultaneously, during happy hour.
