OMG! The cord has been acting funny this week. It has to be inserted in at a correct angle in order to power my laptop, and I smelled something funny just a sec ago - and I pulled the power cord out - and the end of it was smoking (the little yellow tip is kinda black now)??? HELP!?!?!?

hey, looks like there's been a power surge, why dont u get the laptop checked at an authorized service center, if the lappie is still under warranty, u might get the power cord replaced, if thats not possible, buy a surge protector for the power cord, it'll help...

Call your computer manufacturer and ask for a new cord if less than a year old.

Or, go to a computer store like CompUSA and pay $120 for a universal cord. Take your computer with you as there are several "universal" power supply and has to be exact one if works on your computer.

it sounds like you either have a bent connector in there somewhere or a foreign object of some sort got lodged in there.

It's probably a BAD idea to continue using that power cord.

I definetely would stop using it. You may damage your pc. If you tried using it in any other outlet and it did the same thing then you may need to buy a new cord!

Sounds like you need a new power adapter and a new power connector.

Call HP and get it serviced by someone who is qualified to do so.

not good ... hopefully the problem is in the cord side of the connector and u should replace it before it messes up the laptop side of the connector .... then ur screwed if that happens ...

Smoke usually precedes fire. Quit using it before it blows up and have someone qualified check it out.
