you need to soak said sweater for 2 hours in a mixture of 3 gals. hot water and 2 1/2 cips of a good liquid fabric softner and after that hand wringe water from sweater and then lay weater out on a flat surface and use towels to absorb the rest of the water, let air dry. and don't ever put it in a dryer again. always let air dry.

My husband once put a wool sweater of mine in the dryer. When it came out, it was more likely to fit my 7 year-old than me. My mother-in-law rewashed it and while it was still wet she stretched it by hand to my size, using another of my sweaters as a guide. I had no idea that you could do this, but it worked.

wool, lycra, cashmere, angora, 100% polyester , nylon , taffeta, anything with netting,CANNOT go into a dryer. these items need to be dry cleaned only. Always read labels before you do laundry.

Unshrink a Sweater
There is no guaranteed way to unshrink a sweater, but I have a few ideas for you to try. 1) Soak the sweater in hair conditioner and water solution, and pull gently to reshape, lay flat to dry. 2) Dissolve one ounce of borax in a couple of tablespoons of hot water, add the mixture to a gallon of warm water, immerse the garment. Pull the sweater gently into shape, and rinse in a gallon of warm water to which you have added 2 tablespoons of vinegar. 3) Dissolve two cups of non-iodized salt in enough hot water to cover the garment. Let cool, and leave the sweater to soak in it for three hours. Wash it in mild suds, rinse three times, roll the sweater in towels, then reshape and let dry.....:)

You MAY be able to put it back in the washer on the rinse cycle and then let it spin most of the water out. Lay on flat surface on towel and "pull" it out to strech the fibers. Let it air dry.

i found out a way to kinda stretch it back somewhat to its original size wat i did was:
i washed it then i prewashed it with no soap the before the washer rinses i took it out soak in water and hung it on the clothes line to dry NOT IN THE DRYER b/c it shrinks it. so do that a few times and the weight of the water will stretch it out kepp on soaking it and dry line it until you get the size you want
