Does the diagram show the entire male or female reproductive system?

The only things that are commonly surgically cut for contraceptive reasons are the fallopian tube in females and the vas deferens in males. The fallopian tube (or oviduct) moves eggs from the ovary into the uterus. The vas deferens allows sperm to travel from the testes into the urethra.

Cutting either one of these will prevent fertilization from happening.

The disadvantage of either method is that they aren't easily reversible.

Its hard to tell, since we can't see the diagram, but I'm thinking it would have to be the fallopian tube, through which the egg moves. (Sounds like its not a very helpful diagram, though!) The surgery would be effective because it would prevent any interaction between sperm and egg because egg would never make it to the uterus for fertilization or implantation.
Disadvantages (choose) its invasive surgery, and its difficult to reverse, and it has to be done on BOTH fallopian tubes to be effective.
