my period was supposed to start on April 16th, it started early on the 9th short and light. So next month when should I start? Do I count 29 days from the ninth or the 16th and when should I ovulate? Do I count from the 9th or the 16th?

Generally, it takes a healthy woman/girl from 21 to 35 days between the beginnings of each period.

For example, if it starts April 1st, it's okay to repeat between April 21st until May 5th.

Taking less than 21 days or more than 35 days is a sign that you should check with a doctor.

If you are young, less than 21 years, you might experience your period at irregular times, but as long as they are falling within the 21:35 day-limit, you are okay.

Ovulation happens on the medial day between two periods.
