It is a hysteria buzzword. The warming of the Earth is most likely caused by the sun, so even if it continues there is not much we can do about it.

It is true threat. I live in Manitoba Canada back in the 80's and 90's it used to get so cold out here with temps reaching -40 and so much snow you could not shovel fast enough. Our winters would begin late October and last until late april. Now this winter the coldest it got was -25 and that only lasted 2 weeks the rest of our winter was unusually warm. Right now it should be about -10 to 0 and temperatures have already reached +20 this week. In the spring we are supposed to also have lots of rain for at least a month straight there hasn't been a drop. Our summers are supposed to be at the most +25 last summer it reached +40 so mant times. It is drastically changing if you ask any Candadian they will tell you that yes global warming is a real threat and we are feeling the changes here drastically.

Global Warming IS a threat. This is not the debate. The debate is over whether it is a natural phenomenon or the result of human activity, how great is the threat, and regardless of the cause, can it be reversed by human actions and policy.

Yahoo! Answers luminary Michael Crichton asserts that extraterrestrials are the cause of global warming. That is as plausible as any other theory out there. Put another way, the willingness of the public (and some scientists) to believe in extraterrestrials has led to a culture where the line between the hard-facts of science and the faith of religion (believing without evidence) are blurred.

Real threat. Think about this; even though there are natural cycles that produce weird weather patterns. Since man has become industrialized and made the burning and using of fossil fuels it has intensified these natural occurrences and not to mention the fact that all the burning of Cf's and cleaning of forrest HAS left a hole in the ozone. is it fixable? Yes, but probably not anytime soon. to many other countries doing whatever and to many major corporations doing whatever.
