This is what I did:
Diet while breastfeeding = Smaller meals, no trans fat (hydronated oils, partially hydronated), lean meat, no high-fructose corn-syrup, home made smoothies (1 cup yogurt, half a cup ice cubes, half a cup of juice, as much as fruit as you want) Also fill your plate with tons of veggies!
Exercise= Walks/jogs with your baby, dancing whenever you get a chance (danc eto entertain the baby) do squats whenever you are watching TV (commercials or whatever) Also try something like Tae BO helps tighten abs. Most celebrity Moms lose weight really fast and they exercise three hours a day, which is insane, but they can afford the bes trainers to motivate them. I do not exercise three hours a day but I try to do an hour a day, giving myself rest two days a week. Keep on the treadmill.
Honeslty for me it would not come off until I eleminated the bad oils and high frustose corn syrup from my diet.

Yes I think it does help because I haven't been dieting or exercising, but I've committed myself to not eat after 8:30 at night, tried to stop eating sweets, and no fried food, and I have lost 31 pounds out of the 40 that I gained during my pregnancy. My baby is 4.5 weeks old. I'm definitely NOT dieting and normally I need to exercise a ton in order to lose weight.

It took me a full 13 months to finally lose the last of my 40 pound pregnancy weight gain. It was so depressing. If you're nursing, sometimes your body clings to some of the extra fat to ensure you can keep a good milk supply. Try counting your calories. Even if you're eating healthier food, you might be taking in too many calories anyway. I cut down to 1500 to 1800 calories a day and lost weight without excessive hunger. Do not cut calories, though, if you are nursing and without first talking to a doctor.

I had my baby 1 year ago, & just started my exercies about a month ago. I've already lost 1 1/2 inches off my belly & 5 lbs. Here's what I do besides eating right (www.sparkpeople.com for FREE info on healthy eating):
I do the Cardio warmup from disc 2 of Carmen Electra's aerobic striptease series everyday
I also do the ab exercises on disc 2.

It only takes about 45 min - 1 hour....

You could probably find the DVD on ebay for pretty cheap (that's where I got my whole set for about $30!)

Trust me I am having great results!

If you really want to get rid of your pregnancy paunch, you need to strengthen the innermost layer of abs, the transverse muscles, says Julie Tupler, R.N., author of Maternal Fitness. Her new DVD, Lose Your Mummy Tummy (available at Maternalfitness.com), features exercises designed to close up a diastasis — a separation in the central abdominal muscle that can occur when your belly expands during pregnancy. Here's one exercise to get you started:

The move Sit on the floor in a cross-legged position with your back supported against a wall. Place one hand under your breasts and the other on your navel. Inhale as you expand your belly, then exhale slowly, while bringing your belly button inward toward the spine. Pretend there's a train whose first stop is at your navel and whose fifth stop is at your spine. Count off stops until you reach the fifth. Hold and count out loud to 30. Then imagine your navel going out the back of your spine to a sixth stop for five counts. Relax and inhale. Work up to ten times daily.

Keep working out. It takes your body a while to realize that you are serious, so it will need to use some of the stored fat. You may want to cut calories a little. I don't know how many calories you consume, so I can't be sure.

I lost 15lbs for my wedding, just by switching all liquids, milk, juice, etc to water. Except for coffee, but I dont put anything in there. I also sometimes drink 800 cal of skim milk a day (so that adds up). I blame my Wisconsin upbrining.
