I'm 39 weeks pregnant and so excited that I've started losing my mucus plug. How long before labor begins?

I lost mine very early. I of course got worried and called the Dr. they told me not to worry that some woman can go up to 4 more weeks after they loose the mucus plug! Not saying that is the case with you but this is a very early sign of labor. I would bet you will deliver within two weeks though! Watch for other labor signs, back ache, fluid leaking, contractions, etc.

This is tricky because the mucus plug does not determine whether or not you are close to delivery. Some women lose their plug weeks in advance (I started loosing little pieces and I'm barely 35 weeks), and some even lose their plug and then get it back! I hope your baby arrives soon since you're 39 weeks! Best of luck to you!

It really all depends. It could be weeks, days, hours, or minutes until you go into labor.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I lost my mucus plug on a Thursday. That following Sunday I gave birth.

Good luck and I hope you go into labor soon and I'm wishing you a happy healthy baby!!

Losing a mucus plug MAY signal labor coming soon, but it may still be 2-3 weeks...who knows? Some women don't ever notice losing their mucus plug, and they go into labor normally. Note...when you lose your mucus plug, you don't need to go to the hospital if that's the only symptom and despite what many of my patients seem to think...We really don't need to see the mucus plug, so you don't need to bring it with you..

I didn't lose my plug until I was in the second stage of labor, so I guess it's different for everyone. I've heard it can take up to two weeks after losing it, too. Just know that you're really close to labor and should be prepared with a suitcase and everything ready. Congrats!

Well I am 34 weeks and lost mine a week ago, and there are still no signs of labor at all. My doctor said it could be anywhere from 2 days or I could make it all the way to full-term. It really depends on whether your dilated and effaced or not. The mucuos plug falling out is an indication that your body is getting ready, it could just depend on how long your body wants to take.

I lost my mucus plug during labor... but everyone is different and women can lose it weeks before too.

Your body is starting to prepare for birth and I am sure other subtle changes are probably occuring that you aren't aware of too.

Congrats!

It could be days or weeks after your plug comes out. I lost mine at 36 weeks and went into labor at 38 weeks. My best friend lost hers 5 days before she went into labor.
