When they first introduced Puron, it was common practice to suggest replacing the entire system, to avoid the different types of oils from contaminating the new system. This is no longer the case-

However- the new system might be a higher efficiency than the one being replaced, and you mat need to have the pipes and the indoor coil replaced to accomodate the full efficient capability of the new system.

Most changes in refrigerant require the oil to be changed also so it is compatable with the freon. Never heard of changing tubing and coil. Seems like a new unit would be cheaper if that were the case. A licenced AC person could tell you.

Possibly. R410a is a much higher pressure refrigerant than the refrigerant for which your lineset was designed, and may require a smaller lineset. The oil residues will definately have to be flushed thoroughly, as the POE oil will have a chemical reaction with the Mineral Oil. For this reason alone, you should change, you could be asking for big trouble to save a little money.

R22 is still available. Stick with it. Don't get talked into a different refrigerant. The system was designed for r22.
