The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series is a great "beach" read.

Last book I read that I just couldn't put down was Sleep No More by Greg Iles. I guess it depends on which type of books you like. I can't put down mysteries because I want to know what happens at the end. My wife loves funny books. A couple good ones are You Suck by christopher Moore, Life of Pi by Yann Martel, and Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman.

Anything by Jodi Picoult, especially "The Pact" and "My Sister's Keeper". I also recommend "Midwives" by Chris Bohjalian. "Angels and Demons" and "The DaVinci Code" were both page turners. "The Nanny Diaries" was excellent too.

These books aren't really 'beachy' but they are pretty good:
-Harry Potter Series
-A Great and Terrible Beauty (Rebel Angels
is its sequal)
-Twilight (New Moon is the second in the
series)

The last one I read was 'Wicked - The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West'.

It's loosely based on 'the wizard of oz' but tells it from the p.o.v. of the witch (and gives a lot of history into how she got where she did).

It's funny as hell in parts - and kept me interested.

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (& its sequels) A lot of people find it addicting, so you might too. Books are huge! Time travel & romance.
