Where do you live??? Because I keep hearing from Republicans that the economy is great. Ironically, when I ask WHERE the economy is going great, no one ever states that info. So I have to wonder WHERE this great economy is located...

I love the fact that only one of you will say WHERE this booming economy is...because it just ain't happening in a lot of places.
It does NOT happen all over for those that say..."well it's in the USA" so please be a little more specific...

You may want to consider how unemployment is defined. A person out of work who is no longer collecting unemployment benefits because they are exhausted and has to take a part time job to survive is considered employed. (and I do have a full time job, I just manage a lot of people in this boat).

Just so you know, I DID pick myself up by the bootstraps which is why I now have a full time job. I attended school full time while raising 2 kids and working. But not everyone can go back to school. so it is a problem

Huh? National indicators, such as unemployment, GDP growth, productivity, etc. show the economy is doing well, on a national level.
You're talking about local economies - that's influenced by local politicians. If you area is going poorly, I'd look at the mayor and state legislators.
Michigan is a prime example - it's dominated by democrats, their policies haven't worked. Compare with NYC post Republican control. Believe it or not, it's pretty straight forward - if you over tax and over spend, you stiffle growth. No growth = no jobs.

Maybe it is a campaign promise--"If you elect me, history will show..." Unemployment is only 6.1 % in September. During the 1930s unemployment reached over 25%. However, there are some serious concerns about the money supply, and underemployment is always the Phantom Menace, so to speak, in these employment numbers. Sub prime mortgages had their roots in social engineering of Clinton. Lack of regulatory reform to meet the challenges wrought by affirmative lending falls on Bush and the Congress. The real blame fall on any of the politicians in this democracy more worried about re-election than responsible leadership. Maybe we should make a law that every Congressperson and Senator take a course in Economics.

The economy in my area is going great. I live in Central FL (I have all of my life). The economy here is better than it was under Clinton. I say that because when I got married in 1994 our taxes were so high we couldn't save up to buy a house. My husband and I had a daughter but still had to pay income taxes out the nose and we didn't make that much to begin with. Once President Bush got into office we got some relief and finally in 2002 had saved enough to buy our first home.

Agian look at the Stats
Just another stock market record from 12,000 to 13,000 in just six months
For those of you who think the economy was better under Clinton please go to Bureau of Labor Statistics @ the Dept. of labor. Unemployment on average during this administration has been lower . And their our more home owners period!! Productivity is at an all time high. Inflation is down , 10+ million jobs created, Growth has been at a steady pace not to fast not to slow. The stats are there and figured them same way . If your not making money and saving for retirement now you need to change what your doing because the simple truth is the majority of Americans our.Check the United States Economy at a Glance @ http://stats.bls.gov/eag/eag.us.htm.....

Look at it this way: If all new housing construction is starting in the $200,000.00 neighborhood, and houses continue to be built, someone must be buying them.
I live in SE Tennessee. The economy is fine. Houses are still selling. There are help wanted signs in many places.
Within the last 5 years, old public housing has been torn down and new public housing buildings built. If the public housing is as nice as middle class apartments, how bad can the economy really be?

Apparently, you live in a city like my own, with poor economic growth. But, have you asked yourself why this is? I can tell you why it is the case in my city. My city is run almost totally by Liberal Democrats. They believe in taxation and govt expansion over the growth of business and people. We have seen such wonderful projects as a "Wethouse" that allows alcoholics to have a safe place to live and consume alcohol, and all on the taxpayers bill. We have seen publicly funded projects such as an Aquarium for people to look at fish, and that loses money every year. All the while, any business that wishes to move to my area is assaulted as being environmental polluters or somewhat evilly confiscatory of small businesses in the area. The city council wants a "living wage" which is really a Marxist goal, where people can exist on low wage jobs, however not very well, and at the cost of economic growth. Good social benefits have drawn in people from all over the US but only to get these benefits. Crime has increased, and the very character of my city has become one of sewer of human depravity in some areas.
Such is the end goal of Liberalism; No growth, poor economy, lots of govt, but a disdain for business.
Then look at low tax states like Florida, where cities are booming and economic growth is shattering records, and you understand you get the economy you ask for. Vote for Democrats and Liberals, and expect to do poorly.

I'm not a repub but the economy is doing a lot better. You can't judge the economy by a few people. I live where and the way I want. I could care less what the economy is doing. I make my money no matter how the economy is but at this time, the economy is doing better than it has in many years whether you like it or not.

Are you serious? I guess all of the analysts who provide the economic data are on Bush's payroll. LMFAO!
Why do ignorant people like you insist that we have been in a recession for the past 6 years?
If you will provide me one credible link that sustains your slanted view, I will vote for whoever you tell me to for the rest of my life.
Edit: It is painfully obvious that every single idiot who supports this notion has zero stake in the economy. Otherwise, you would see it for how it truly is.
Edit 2: Estimates are made for the situations you presented in calculating the unemployment rate.
BTW, you do realize that the unemployment rate was calculated the exact same way when Clinton was president, right?

Here's one state....Maryland...another state...Virginia. The Carolina's...If it's not going good for you...well, not my fault..do what I and many others did...get a second or third job, reach down and pull yourself up by the boot straps.
You're not my responsibility. I provided for mine...If you're working for someone else...start your own company...not such a difficult question to answer. Can be answered in 2 words. WORK HARDER!
After all, it is AMERICA and I know to many people that have made it. Also know those that have not made it. They simply did not use the skills given them. My neck of the woods...things are fantastic!!!
Edit:
Evidently you've not pulled hard enough on the boot straps...you're still complaining...You asked for where the economy is great...I answered your question...If it's not great in your area, aleviate the problem...move...you're not the only single person that's raised 2 children...can tell you of many that have and have become huge successes in life. Sorry if the truth hurts you as evidence by the thumbs down. WORK HARDER!
