She's trying to flex her muscle to the people who voted for Democrats. Pelosi never had the power to fulfill her withdrawal from Iraq campaign nonsense. She knew it. She duped the Democratic base, and all the silly Republicans that went along with her.
And to those that think there are no checks and balances. Congress can override a president's veto. So to say their are no checks and balances is not true. You may not like it. But so what.

The Neocon controlled Congresses gave the executive branch far too much power. The balance of power is out of balance. Perhaps the Speaker is trying to take back power to the legislative branch that should not have been given up to the executive branch in the first place.

I'm just relieved that our President who has abused his authority as President finally has someone to put some checks and balances on him.
Who else could get a supreme court chief justice selected from an outsider
Get rights to habeas corpus suspended for enemy combatants (who gets to decide who is an enemy combat other than the president and a "competent military tribunal")

not that I'm aware of. She is strongly asserting the powers of the speak of the house. With the past house being Republican they were going along with everything GWB wanted so you never saw them push their power limits but now that times have changed, the nature of the game has changed.
