If a car travels down a road at 55 mph, write an expression for the distance it travels in 'h' hours (Hint: distance traveled = speed x time traveled.)

You statement contains for expression miles per hour, therefore in terms of h "hours" you would go 55 miles/h. For every hour you travel, you travel 55 miles.

I guess I'm not smarter than a college student...

if the speed is 55 mph and
if the time traveled is h hours, and
if distance it travels is equal to the speed multiplied by the time traveled, and
neglecting acceleration...

the distance in miles the car travels (call it d) in h hours is 55h... unless I'm missing something... like the box outside of which I'm supposed to think.... d = 55h

I just graduated from college and I never had to solve any problems like that! I was an English major with a minor in Asian studies. Math was optional. I took 2 biology courses instead. So does that make me dumb even though I have my degree??? :(

Let d be distance travelled, let v be speed, let h be hours

d = v * h

will give you distance in miles.

Am I missing something here?
