I think the overwhelming known idea is that they are gonna tear her down...dont see what else they could really do with it, Detroit aint big enough for two teams, and minor league teams are outside of the city....suck to say it, but it will be a sad day when she comes down.
On July 24, 2001 an estimated crowd of 1,500 people attended a Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League game between the Motor City Marauders and the Lake Erie Monarchs. It was the first game played at the ballpark since the Tigers last game on September 27, 1999. Michigan & Trumbull, LLC, a local sports management company which organized the game, is seeking a short-term lease in order to bring a Frontier League franchise to Detroit to play games on nights when the Tigers are out of town.

Hopefully they won't tear it down but thats probably whats going to become of it. Just like Ebbits Field. I have only seen Old Tiger Stadium once, but it would be a shame not to do something with it.

It will fall down. Detroit cant afford to tear it down. Its been empty since they made that movie 61 and as a party location for the superbowl. They keep hoping someone will buy it and make it into offices or apartments but its in a pretty rough area so not many people want to live and work there.
Tear it down and make it a park or something that people could use.

They need to tear it down. Use the space for something usefull. If they want to use it for kids games they could use the space and build 10 fields, but to leave it standing will not benefit the city or the neighborhood one bit.
I would hate to see it become another Hudsons where it takes the city over 20 years to do what should have been done right away.

The Detroit PD has occasionally used it for sniper practice.
For now it continues to crumble, the city guvvermint uncertain what to do about it and hoping some developer shows up with a big suitcase full of munny.

I like the idea of using it for a movie. I wish they'd make it a museum or something, but that would take WAY too much money. Last I heard (about a year or so ago) they were talking about tearing it down... get this... but leaving up one wall. WTF?!? One wall?!? What's the point?
I miss her. She's was a beautiful ball park at one point. One more thing... GO TIGERS!

I cry every time I see it.
It is literally a crime that KilPatrick has allowed to sit and rot for as long as he has.
Personally, I would tear it down. Keep the filed intact, and make a playground for thr neighborhood kids.
