I have a new home in southern Cali that has the typical sandstone colored 6' high block walls surrounding the back yard. It is L shaped 70' x 50'. Currently it is planted with grass. What are some ideas of how to deal with those plain block walls?

Half way around the world I am having the same problem. Just completed my house and all I have is grass surrounding the house with 71/2 feet block walls L shaped 120 x30 on the side. Someone proposed water fall at 3 different parts of the wall and fish pond along the wall connected to the water falls. Still thinking cause I hate maintenance.

Lots of Ivys, the type that cling to the wall. There is one that turns a rich red in the Autumn (but that's down under in NZ and maybe here in Australia) Maybe a climber. Choose an evergreen one, there are several, you just need to look up a garden book on climbers etc. and you will surely find one that suits. These plants generally look after themselves and have wonderful flowers and scents. Have fun. These plants are my favourites!!!
