What are some medical reasons for an abortion? the only one I could think of would be a tubal Pregnancy. What are the other medical reasons?
And for all you abortion activist, Calm down! No one is getting an abortion, I am not suggesting it. Please don't write "murder", or "your going to hell", Don't get your panties all in a wad! I don't believe in abortion, I have never got an abortion, and not planning on it, I just seen a question , saying something about getting an abortion for medical reasons... and were wandering what other medical reasons there may be!

There are several reasons for this:
-the mother has an underlying health problem that would give a significant risk that she would die if continuing with the pregnancy.
-a health problem with the baby is discovered that would either significantly impair it's life, or cause it to not be able to live outside the womb at all.
-a mother has gone through fertility treatments and is carrying more babies than she can carry to term, or far enough along that they would survive, putting every baby at risk.

I think some other reasons for a medical abortion would be if it put the mothers life in danger. If the mother had something such as cancer and needed to seek immediate treatment that could be someones reason. I think there are no reasons except a tubal. I know some women will do it if the baby doesn't have a chance at survival. Just some thoughts.

There are medical reasons for abortion, sometimes its the fetus, sometimes its the mother, usually there is significant bleeding, or and endometrial implantation, or there has been significant genetic or chemical impairment. It may need to be done if for instance the mothers blood pressure soars and does not respond to treatment. There are psychological reasons a woman should not carry a fetus to term. Those are the mothers you read about who put their newborns into microwaves, not the ones you hear about from pro lifers who think the women are making it up.
A woman may choose to have an abortion if tests show the fetus has a genetic disease that is incompatible with life.
There are probably more, I just gave you the ones I know of.
While lives of saints might be interesting, I find this one horrendous, what about that womans right to life? What are her husband and child going to do? Did she have other kids?
Wishing to die isn't always the sane thing to do.
Couldn't she have simply had a caesarean, with a hysterectomy if needed? Why die?
Why glorify any death?
I'm glad the answerer above is not my doctor, or my priest.

Ectopic pregnancies might desire to be dealt with for 2 motives: a million. the youngster won't stay, no rely what 2. the mummy will maximum in all probability die to boot i might say an abortion for scientific motives is wonderful provided that there is a a hundred% probability of death to the mummy or toddler, that's amazingly uncommon. Or if the youngster has some deformity which will reason death presently after beginning. Anecephaly is one that contains ideas... do not examine that out till you have a stable abdomen. that's incredibly unhappy.

It's a good question b/c a lot of people are against abortion except in the rare cases when they believe there is a "medical reason."
However, that term is debatable. Some, like the nurse above who answered your question thinks a birth defect in the baby qualifies as a medical reason. Shame on her! Isn't a nurse supposed to care for the ill and vulnerable? How can you justify aborting a baby with health problems? Would you kill the mother if SHE had health problems?
What if mom does have an underlying problem (cancer, fibroids, etc). Some think this qualifies as a medical reason. But just b/c mom has a condition doesn't mean delivering the baby will kill her. I know many women (including my own mother) who have told me that a doctor warned them "b/c of x/y/z you can never have babies again" and all of these women went on to successfully delivery 1 or more children.
Sometimes a doctor will say with almost absolute certainty that for a woman to continue a pregnancy she will surely die. Yes, that can and has happened although it is VERY rare.
In that case, the "ideal" thing to do would be for the mother to make a great sacrifice and decide to give her child life. She could also pray that her life be spared, too, b/c doctors are often wrong.
Read about St. Gianna Berreta Molla who had a fibroma in her uterus. They told her to abort the baby since it would put her life at risk. A few days before the child was due, she was ready to give her life in order to save that of her child: “If you must decide between me and the child, do not hesitate. Choose the child — I insist on it. Save the baby.”
On the morning of April 28, 1962, amid unspeakable pain, she delivered a healthy girl, and after repeated exclamations of “Jesus, I love you. Jesus, I love you,” the mother died. She was 39 years old.

I have a problem with the phrase "medical reason" anyway because it implies that there ARE good reasons to have an abortion. There is never a reason to kill a baby, and killing an innocent baby does not qualify as good medicine.

possibly something where your organs can't handle the extra pressure of working harder to help support the baby... i saw that on tv one time.
or
another episode on tv was the mom was having problems with the plecenta and if she didnt abort she would end up dying herself adn not reaching full term so losing the baby anyway :(
