what does it mean when there is no amp, i mean its 0?

amperes (amp) measure the currrent I
voltage is the potential difference between the two points of contact (volts)
diode is the p/n junction and is the cell which produces the current when there is pd across it

With a diode, there will be current flow only in forward direction and in reverse direction, the current will be practically zero. Thus a diode can be used for rectifying an AC into DC.
