He takes care of his family, is respectful to others, compassionate, his word means something, his actions mimic his words, honest and loyal with integrity in all that he does and says. This is a rare breed. There are a few out there but they may be on the endangered species list!

Hi,
I think a respected man speaks less but speaks meaningfully.He knows when to speak and when to keep mouth shut.People listen to him motionlessly and thus he becomes a respected person( not forgetting the deeds done by him).If he is an honest man,sincere towards duties he will surely become a respected person.

Qualities in a respected man should be:-
1. honesty; 2. A humanitarian; 3. filled with purity of mind; etc.
BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT QUALITY:A trustworthy person.that's it.

He takes the time to listen, and doesn't start forming his response or opinions until after he hears the whole story. He also conducts himself in a way that he wouldn't be embarrassed to have his mom or grandmother follow him around all day. Also, when he is prosperous, he tries to spread the good things that have happened to him around, and bring others up, not take advantage.

Looking at all the other answers, you have to agree that it would all depend on the person you are asking.
Each one has a different quality they are expecting - honesty, love, faithfullness, dependability - it all depends on who is doing the answering.

Let him be like Rama, who upholds justice and truth
or like Krishna who is kind, generous, righteous, just etc. but he also fights for the rights, especially when the opposite party is dirty and evil.
