It never really matters how much "she" can make, you need to understand that she has to have the baby "alone" she has to find child care to work she has to be there every day with the child and do everything that you are supposed to help with. Raisin g a child is not about how much but I can tell you this there is no way that any amount of child support is gonna be enough if you do the math, children are expensive and they get more expensive with age so whatever you decide to pay her in child support will never be enough! then there is the fact that you are now paying for a 24 hour 7 day a week nanny because you cant be tied down anymore, grow up buddy and hear the music, what you make now can't even compare to what you are gonna need in the near future to raise that child, If you don't believe me walk into any store and look at the cost of clothing and realize that children grow very fast and usually need several outfits a year just to outgrow the minute that you buy them then there is school, food, child care, medical expenses that are not covered by insurance, toys,oh and did i mention they get more expensive as they grow up!!!!!!!! It is a shame that she was good enough until she got pregnant hope the next baby waits to come around for you buddy

For the most part, her income doesn't really make much difference on what you pay. It goes by your income. The more she makes might be a VERY small difference (in your case maybe a dollar or two per week).
Child support is ordered by the court. It isn't about what you should or should not pay, it is about what they will order you to pay.
One problem with children today is that there are so many selfish parents that put their own feelings and wants before what is best for their child.
This isn't the childs fault. You made the baby, you need to be a man and be responsible. You and your wife need to raise this child TOGETHER!
Which way would you rather have grown up?
1) in a $40,000 per year household with two parents that were responsible enough to make it work (get counselling if you need it)
2) in a $22,000 per year household with one person that typically fights with the other parent. Being shuffled back and forth between 2 homes. Never having your own real home.
This isn't about you. It is about your child.

Oh Buddy - how she can have a certificate - saying that she is educated and want a man that makes 18K that has has the moral back bone of a - well - bowl of pudding?

Having been a single mom - I will have to say that it is SOOO much easier to be a single mom and know that things are taken care of the right way rather than have things pop up because of someone being irresponsible - lack morals - ethics - oh wait - COMMITMENT to the family - I could go on and on -

It seems to me that your wife and your baby would be much better off in life without YOU as the lead weight. So for you to have this ego and think that you are going to be better off without HER? Get over yourself!

Buddy - get a real clue! She was doing you a favor with honoring you with her presence in the first place. She was strong - disciplined and focused enough to get that certificate, she can be just the same as a single mom.

Why don't you grow a back bone and learn something from her and try to be a better man? You need to realize that she CAN do it without you - probably better than with the person you are now. The thing is - why don't you focus on yourself becoming a better man for your child and her? Why don't you become the man she and that baby deserves??

It doesn't matter how she makes, child support is based on your income. I'm not sure where you live but, in New York, the percentage for one child is 17%, for two children is 25%, and for three or more it's 33% of the Father's Gross Income.
You need to know the family law in which you live. You will also have to provide proof as well as she for both your incomes as well.
Best of Luck!!!!

How much money she makes does not make you less responsible for the baby you helped make.

Pony up the cash Daddy. The court will decide what is proper.

Maybe you should get a diploma and certeficat (whatever that is) so you can make 50k a year too.

It depends on what state you are in. In Texas 1 child = 20% of your total earnings plus half the medical costs and insurance for the baby.
