My ex will never go away because of our kids we have together. But I try my best to stay clear of him because I have nothing nice to say to him and he knows it.
He picks the kids up while I am at work and when I have to go for the kids on Sunday afternoon I make sure my boyfriend parks on the side where he has to let the kids in the car. It's been going on for 7 years now and I hate him more and more each passing year.

If you'd just move on and let go, it wouldn't matter at all.

I like how everybody assumes that this can happen because only one person wants it to happen, and that just isn't the case 99.5% of the time.

Really, I could have an ex show up at my doorstep, and I would just say "It's rude to come over without calling. Adults don't do that. Why are you acting like a child or a stalker?". And I bet that 99.5% of the time setting that boundary would work. The key is they don't affect ME. I just deal with them like I'd deal with anybody else because they have no power over ME. I am in control of ME.

How about you?

I know some "ex's" that do but, my "ex" husband is around because of our boys...He's very much apart and involve in their lives...It's like we never separated or divorced because thats how much he is around.
I think if you have an "ex" that is lingering around and you have no ties with them and if they don't go away then you should make the first step to make sure they understand and know that it's OVER!!!!!

It depends on the situation, whether or not you have children etc.

I have two kids with my ex and thankfully I don't have to see or talk to him. The kids see him now and again (when he can be bothered - like this Sunday for two hours when they wanted to spend day with him!), but he contacts them on their mobile as he doesn't have my numbers.

My bf and his ex get on really well though - he says better now then when they were together.

Some of them do, especially when there are no children. If your ex is bothering you personally then you know whether he is angry for the year(s) wasted or he won't let go of you. We are a complex species. You represent something to your ex that they cannot let go. If you move, they have to let go.

Good question. I would pay to have mine to move to another country all together. I think its because they missed the good thing they had and now that you have moved on and are happy they want to ruin that, as if we would give them another chance (never). Good luck to you and if you ever find out how to get rid of them, you could write and book and it would be on the top selling list.

something wrong with having another friend to talk to or get an opinion from? I am still in contact with a few old girlfriends. (nothing sexual of course!) It always helps to have someone to help decipher what the opposite sex is trying to tell you!
