I'm trying to figure out how to keep three fish alive during 4 to 5 days of driving.

They very best way is to have them shipped to you. Assuming you have someone local that will care for the fish for a few days and then pack them and ship them overnight after you get there and set up your tank.

Short of that you can use a cooler and a battery operated air pump during the travel. Be sure to bring along a bit of extra water so that you can do a water change after day 2. I suggest taking water with you that the fish are adjusted to as you don't know the pH etc of the water you would encounter on your drive. You also would want to refrain from feeding the fish at all during the trip as this would foul the limited water supply very quickly.

To be honest with you. It is more of a bother then its worth. You need your tank set up when you get their and that takes time. The water where you are going will be totally different and the setup will take time.
I recomend that you give your fish to someone and when you get to where you are going set up your new tank and let it cycle and buy new fish.
Hope this helps
