There is no oil produced by the human body(not hair) that cannot be washed away with very warm water ( like you would have in the shower). Soap is usually very alkaline. Unless you have "grime" , you don't need it, why do you use it ?

I have a very fussy partner and yes, I smell just fine. It is partly from genetics, I must admit (not swarthy).

Soap actually dries out the skin.
If you are using a deoderant you will not smell bad. Even if you use soap, most still need a deoderant. Why double up ?

Um... shower gel is a type of soap. It's just runnier.

I know when I smell even a little bad. It's not just me. Believe me, I'm told in no uncertain terms when I even smell of stale deoderant. I wash my body, just without soap(except for my hands of course). Soap makes little difference. It's the deoderant that keeps you fresh.

We were taught to.
It's heavily advertised and we do what we're told regardless of whether it's actually needed or not.

Did you ever consider that you may smell bad but YOU don't smell it?

I had a roommate that showered three times each day but still smelled horrible. Add on the fact that I was in the early stages of pregnancy before we kicked him out. For the record, his stench was the only one that affected me so badly that I threw up upon first whiff. Everything else I at least had a chance to get something to settle the upset.

As for soaps, yes, bar soaps are bad. So are cheap body washes. But there are specially formulated washes that keep your skin healthy and smooth (and part of this IS a vanity issue, I know).

I dont use soap in the shower, if I am dirty the hot water cleans me up just fine. If I have some kind of grime on me than I would use some type of body wash.

I use a moisturizing body wash, not a bar soap. My skin is very sensitive & dries out easily, so a moisturizer keeps me silky-smooth! :o)

that is how i have been taught to wash. i dont agree. I think you need the soap to wash away the stink. If you use no soap you will stink. I think you have been lied to.

Yes. There are other reasons why an alkaline is needed besides 'grime'.
