The Bank of England £50 note is legal tender in England and Wales but as previously stated many shops refuse to take them because of the large amounts of fakes in circulalation and obviously £50 is a lot to risk in case it is. Interestingly i don't know of a bank which will actually give them out for instance if you take £200 from a cash machine you'll get £20 notes and not £50's
Bank of England notes are not legal tender in Northern Ireland or Scotland (Bank of England coins are the only legal tender there) but are widely accepted although they too may be relunctant to accept £50 notes.
£50 notes will always be worth £50 but since £50 is likely to be worth less in the future than now in the future it is probably likely that more will be printed because inflation will mean larger denominations of notes will be needed to purchase items rather than carrying large amounts of smaller denomination notes around if that makes sense.

As far as I know its legal tender but try and spend it and you will have problems. Due to problems with forgeries many Small shops will not except and even bigger shops will not always except. Better off going to a bank and changing them for smaller notes.

Will always be legal until withdrawn by the Bank of England. There are a lot of fakes around and a lot of shops refuse to accept them which they are well within their rights to do.

shops do accept them. they have to by law! they are only unusual because they are not given out unless you ask for one or are using large sums of money. as long as the £50 note is a bank of england note it has to be accepted.

The £50 note is legal tender, but most shops refuse (illegally) to accept them, due to the number of counterfeit examples in circulation nowadays. :)

I reckon they will be worth around fifty pounds, and you can buy things at the shop with them.
