I drive over 1500 kilometers a week. Mostly highway and country roads. I am buying a new car and I want it to last me over 7 years. What do you guys recommend. (I like to drive really fast, but I am trying not to because of speeding tickets, but I still want some gutts going up steep hills.)

You wouldn't be happy with the performance of a 4 cyl with your driving habbits. Any engine will last for a long time if it's properly maintained.
We had a choice when we purchased our '05 Accord. We went for the V6 & haven’t regretted it.

Well, I have a V8 and the gas is a little high. But then again, I love the power...and I am a chic so...I am not sure about engine longevity.

Any engine will last if you take care of it properly (unless there is a manufacturer screw up)

If you are going up hills and what not, I would say defiantly go for the V6. If you like to drive fast as well, you would like the V6 better of course.

You can actually get less gas mileage with a manual if you don't know how to drive it properly. The automatics have less to fix if they do mess up. Meaning you have to replace clutches, and all that other stuff.

Good luck with your new car! Remember, stick to American made! :D

Typically due to the difference in the power output of a 6 cylinder over a 4 cylinder engine, the 6 cylinder will have a lower rew range and there for an easy life.

A seven year projection is unreal given the price of gas and the up and coming innovations in the automotive field. A six cylinder engine obviously has many more components than a four and is more likely to fail, do expect to be filling up your tank on a regular basis. Four cylinder engines are surprisingly agile when coming to climbing hills and on the straight and narrow. I personally run a stock 89 crx i get close to 40 mpg. I would keep away from the automatic transmission as you would get 5 mpg less and less power. Reliability of the four, probably surpasses a six or an eight.

flow with the 4.0 i6. it supply you greater skill, acceleration, torque. while you're questioning approximately going off street the 6-cylinder is a would desire to. i might particularly have the skill while i choose it. the only turn away of the 6-cylinder is that it often will use greater gasoline than a 4-cylinder. regardless of that mentioned the 6-cylinder nevertheless would not use a lot greater gasoline (not adequate to contemplate sacrificing its skill) than the 4-cylinder. i might flow with the 6-cylinder.

No. How long the car lasts depends on how you treat it.

No matter what the manual says I do an oil change every 3,000 miles (gasoline engines) and we haven't had a car not going into the 200s before selling them and never a major problem. We gave our son a car with 250,000 on it. 7 years later it is still running strong.

it's all about maintenance, most vehicles last relative to how you take care of it. some v-6s are better than 4's but mainly 4's last longer because of the less moving parts and less reciprocating mass, but their is no way to say one is better than the other, if you want to drive fast and have fun w/ back roads go German. an Audi or BMW will be good for what you are looking for
