It's about control.
To some, democracy means loosing the control they have.
The US has alot of good things going for it, but it has alot of problems too. Right now, big business and it's control of our elected officials and therefore the military are in control of the country and its policies.
When the opportunity becomes available, you should visit other countries. You will quickly see that they aren't as bad as we are led to believe and we aren't as superior as we think we are.

The reason why america is "the best country to live in EVER" isnt because they have democracy its because they exploit the rest of the world for their own means along with all the other "developed" countries. Which is what this group is all about, i dont know what files are in the archive of this room but you should read them and try and get a better understanding of what the people who started this group are trying to convey.
A very very small group of people run things the world over, countries oppose each other but the people at the zenith of power are all conspiring together. Democracy is just an illusion think of it more as an elected dictatorship.
You can only vote once every four years and when you do the only parties that have a chance of getting into power are so alike they might aswell be the same, not only that they dont have to stick to the manifesto that they come into power with.
Its a good thing that you are asking questions the main problem with western society isnt that they dont know much the real danger is that they think they know it all therefore live in ignorance of what is really happening.

I know that you're only 15 years old, so I'll be gentle. Believe it or not, not everyone thinks we're so great. Also, not everyone wants democracy. Some people see us as corrupt. Not only that, but not every culture has a background in democracy. One reason why the US is a democratic country is because we had a history of representative government even before we became independent. For example, there was the Virginia House of Burgesses. Our tradition of representative government goes all the way back to Britain, which has Parliament. If you take into account the fact that not every culture has a democratic tradition like we do, you begin to understand why not everyone wants to be like us.

Well, it sounds good in a storybook fantasy, but in reality, there ARE people out there who hate America *gasp*. And countries like these would do whatever they can to make themselves as far away from western culture as possible. Also, as human beings, its is in our nature to dispute, dissagree, and argue, if we were to all belileve the same things and practice and do the same things, then we wouldn't be human; its not within our ability to all be the same. The only time anyone has actually wanted the whole world to be the same was in the case of Hitler; he wanted everyone in the world to be Nazi's, and the whole world recognized that as people, it is our nature to be different from one another. It is natural to think that the US is the best country to live in, but I can guarentee that people in other countries think the same thing about their own countries. Also, there are a lot of things that USA doesn't do efficently. For example, take our trillion dollar debt, or our global immage of the "shoot-em-up cowboys" Trying to unite all countries in the world is an emperialistic idea which would only create more problems then it solves.
I think it's great that people in this world are diverse. Don't you?
BTW, robo1; if you think that abolishing religion is practical, let me tell you this. The majority of hatred of the USA is due to military forces in their holy lands. Men with guns in mecca, tanks in jeruselum, soldiers at the vatican. When people seek enlightenment or prayer, the have guns in their face just in case they might be a terrorist. My friend, religion is the one thing that's keeping this world together. I may not believe in god myself, but others' belief is what makes humans strong. Its faith that keeps us from blowing up everyone else. Also, how exatly would you abolish religion? I mean, first you would have to re-write the constitution, which would change this country. Then, you would have to go all around the world, shooting everyone who prays. How many problems would THAT fix? better yet, how many would it cause?

It's good that, for a 15 year old, you are asking questions! Keep it up.
The United States is technically a Democratic Republic. While we claim to be a democracy, technically we aren't. Democracy means "rule by the people". We elect a representative to "rule" on our behalf. Some do the job well, others don't. But for a country the size of the US, a true Democratic form of government would be very unwieldy, even on a state level. This is why we are a Democratic Republic.
Despite our shortcomings, and believe me, we have plenty, you are correct in your assertation that the USA is the best place to live in the world.
But to answer your question, rule "by the people" is very threatening to those who have power, such as dictatorships, or theocracies. Remember, friend, that the USA was founded on the blood of our ancestors who refused to live under tyranny. Thus are born "democracies".

Success is a subjective term. It is defined by culture. If you travel you will see that people all over the world have different meanings for what it means to be successful. Have you ever been outside of the US?
If we were more respectful of the differences and idiosyncrasies of the human family there would be a lot less trouble. Most wars these days because of economics and resources, and pure simple greed.
The only thing i know is the world is and always has been the same.

It's nice to see that at 15 years old you are thinking.
The problem is that the USA used to be a lot better place to live until the Bush Crime family took over after the assassination of President John F Kennedy in November 1963.
The takeover became apparent during the 2000 presidential election. George W. Bush was appointed president by the US Supreme Court on a decision that concerned a voting scandal in Florida.
The father of George W. Bush had appointed some of the Judges that were involved in the decision about the voter scandal that ocurred in the State where his brother Jeb Bush was governor.
There are a couple of videos concering this that are available for you to freely download at the following link.
http://www.question911.com/linksall.htm
It might also interest you to download at least one of the 9/11 videos which are before where you will find the other videos. The one that got my attention and made me more curious was "911: In Plane Site".
My independent further research convinced me that the Official 9/11 Commission Report was not the truth. Other 9/11 videos of interest are "Loose Change - 2nd Edition", "911 Eyewitness", "Painful Deceptions" and "9/11 Mysteries- Part I - Demolition".
You don't miss what we lost because you never had the rights and/or were to young to excercise them. I don't envy you with the world in the condition that you are getting it.
When I grew up I was taught to take care of things, including the trees and nature. We always left our camsite in better condition than when we got there. I don't feel that I have succeeded in leaving the planet and government that way.
The current illegal war in Iraq is about the Bush Administration & Crime family making money from it. They are people who don't care who they kill to get what they want. They are liars, cheats, thieves. Do not trust them. If this new congress can't stop them, it is very possible that you will end up going to war in Iraq, whether you like it or not.
In 1918, 10 months before the end of World War I, the then President Woodrow Wilson made a speech to congress that contained 14 points. His speech was intended to stop "the culminating and final war for human liberty."
http://www.historyplace.com/speeches/wilson-points.htm
The first point of that speech is where I think the probelm lies. It is as follows: "Open covenants of peace must be arrived at, after which there will surely be no private international action or rulings of any kind, but diplomacy shall proceed always frankly and in the public view."
Please note "Open covenents of Peace" not secret spying agencies such as the CIA.
Also note: "shall proceed always frankly and in the public view." not smile and wave at the photo-ops, say the pat lines that people want to hear then do something different such as this Administration is doing.
After World War II they organized the United Nations. I suggest that you read the Charter located at the following link: http://www.un.org/aboutun/charter/index.html
The first part of the Charter includes "to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind,"
It should be noted that it is a know fact that President George H. W. Bush was in the CIA and in Dallas, Texas on the day that JFK was shot. He eventually became director of the CIA and has been involved in covert operations since the early 1960s.
I think that since there are a great number of foreign governments that have agencies such as the CIA that perform covert operations that poor Iraq has been made the "Paintball battelfield" for all of those countries agencies doing various covert operations. Every country has their own agenda.
The problem is that nobody knows who is who because they are all using the same color paint. "Blood Red".
The Bush Administration doesn't care who they send over or how they are cared for if they get hurt. Either way they are making money and George "The Decider" Bush must be the one to do the Deciding.
I hope this helps your education and keeps your interest.

Well, I think this whole world does not mean to be united. People are not mean to be created the same; we are all different. We all have our own mind, each of us have our own desire, own feeling, own taste , we are all different
We are born in different places from different parents; even from the same parrents born in different times, even the twins; not exactly the same.
Democratic like America?
Like inside the family, in America, democracy not always occur though. Some brothers are bullies; Some husbands beat their wives ; some mothers dont like to listen , etc.etc;
I dont think democracy really happened in America.
Mr. President dont like to listen to the people who dont want the war, he still proceeding with it.
That is life.
Mind you, in my opinion, in some country, where the inhibitants are not really well educated yet, democracy will not be very effective anyway for the good of their people.
So democracy is good if education is well up to the standard; and everybody get it.
Some countries especially which had been occupied by another countries, like in Asia and Africa, democrasy is hard to achieve.
The people were not used to being free and independent; their mind was blocked by propaganda and indoctrination for centuries;
Sure now, the scholars realize that independency lies in their mind, so slowly, they try to achieve the essence of democracy by influencing and guiding their fellowship around their community .
Going through depression?? That is life; that is fun once we can over come it.
Life does not mean to be easy;
You know Budha ? The founder , Sidharte Gautama, was the son of a King. He left the Kingdom and became "beggar" , where through all the pain of life through lived in poverty, he became one of the most powerfull personality.
War? Nobody wants war anymore.
People fight against/among their own tribe exacfly like in the family, sisters and brothers arguing among themselves or sometimes even fighting; but, Somebody from next block does not need to interfere.
Unless ...????
World would never united; maybe blowned up one day ; but not united.
It is hard enough to unite a family in harmony , then it is impossible to unite the whole world. The beauty of the world is the individual "uniqueness"; the differences, and the let it be different yet live in understanding, and honestly accepting the difference , live with it, and be happy with it.

Well I agree America rules (although we are falling from grace as political extremism from both left and right tear us apart) but you are working under a flawed assumption that all people are like you/us.
Our government is what works best for us, but other cultures do things differently and to suit their differences they need a different governent style. That, I think, is why we are having so much trouble in Iraq, we are trying to force our forms on a totally different culture that is not even close to our own.
People have to run their lives the way that works for them...not the way that works for us.
Also when we contact life from the stars than is when we will unite since we will have a new outsider to unite against..but until we are in space we will all see world thru our little slice of the planet that we live in

Democracy isn't for everyone and now our country isn't so great anymore. We're basically losing all our writes that were written into the constitution (right to free speech, right to assembly, right to bear arms). In some aspects this is still a great country especially for people that don't live here. For the ones that live here and depending on where you live it SUCKS!!! Gangbangers, drug dealers, hookers (well not hookers so much) are everywhere. Crooked cops, politician, poor health care, no body cares because they have all they want and the youth of today doesn't care one way or tye other for the most part. And all the other countries in the world want the USA's help when they have a problem. If we took care of ourselves first then we wouldn't have the problems we're having.

I agree democracy is a good system. But, I'm afraid, and I know you're only 15, that the US is not the best democracy in the world.
And as far as being the best country in the world, welll...that is highly debatable. Your ranking isn't that high in over all stats.
We all go on about the propaganda communist countries perpetuate, what do you Americans call it when your gov't does exactly the same thing, and you do not even recognize it. I believe you call it the truth.
