Here's an example...

2^3 x (3 - 6) + 3 x 4 - 12

If you do it right using PEMDAS....
2^3 x (3 - 6) + 3 x 4 - 12
= 8 x (-3) + 3 x 4 - 12
= -24 + 12 - 12
= -24

If you do it wrong using SADMEP....
2^3 x (3 - 6) + 3 x 4 - 12
= 2^3 x (3 - 6) + 3 x (-8)
= 2^3 x (3 - 6) + -24
= 2^3 x (-3) + -24
= 2^3 x -27
= 8 x -27
= -216

(3+5)^2-10*3+4
PEMDAS
(8)^2-10*3+4
64-10*3+4
64-30+4
34+4
38

(3+5)^2-10*3+4
(3+5)^2-10*12
(8)^2-120
64-120
-56

Using PEMDAS is made for the order of operations in order to get the correct answer if you work each section seperately. For example, if you had 3+4*5 you should get 3+20 = 23 instead of 7*5 which is 35.
