Ive always been told you would stick to the roof and even seen it in movies. Is it true? It seems like gravity would act the same on both the elevator and you, making you fall at the same rate as the elevator. So you would feel weightless, but your feet would be touching the floor of the elevator on the fall.

if the downward acceleration of lift is more than g then an upwards pseudo force is observed in the frame of lift...simply the lift goes down faster than you are falling hence relative to lift you start going up..

Mythbusterd did a test a found that there is no way a human being can jump or elevate because of the gravity

usually the car will stop in one of two floors when falling, however, most accidents happen when the car is going up

there are no protections at present in that direction

now we have anothe thing to worry about

You will be on the floor. Did you see the Mythbusters episode where they tested if jumping just before you hit bottom would save your life? answer. No.
