but they looked dead and for just a minute you panicked because you knew if they were dead you couldn't just leave them lying on the floor all day and you didn't want to have to touch a dead animal so you nudge them with your foot to be sure and then they look at you like you're crazy?

after having to get a dead cat that was dead for a good while(bloated up and smelled really really bad enough to make u gag just standing by it) out from under my friends grandmothers house touching a dead animal that just died would be the last of my worries.

No. But I found my dad like that. I thought for a split second he was napping but then I quickly realized the truth. And yes I panicked - more like totally freaked out.

I have not been afraid of touching them, but I have woke up my dog to check on her like you described. She would give a "What the heck?" look and then roll over P.O.ed that I woke her. This isn't an issue now that she is older and snores like a chainsaw sawing logs.

Yes my dog lays there so still and dead looking plus he is old and I'm always scared that he actually is. My heart sinks so much just thinking of the times, cos I know one day it will happen and I'll miss him so much.

Yes, I have done that. I was so relieved that they were alive. But last week I found one of the new kittens dead. I hate when that happens.

All the time, but usually I can hear them snoring, but I usually give them a nudge anyway, just to be sure.

Yes, I have so done that before! and it is very scary at first, but then you are so relieved once they start moving and the shock of the whole thing wears off.

You are so funny. I have had that brief moment of panic. And the "look" is one of great disgust because you woke them up.
