it would depend on the environment on the ship....would they have nice arboretums (sp?) and entertainment and alot of people to be friends with and things. I would love to travel in space but our current propulsion speeds wouldn't make it possible to get to another inhabitable planet for many generations.

Why heck no! Imagine being 88 years old, looking out the window, and seeing the next generation of space ships zip past you like you were sitting still! I'll take my chances here. I'd go to Saturn and back maybe, but not another solar system. I'd tell my kids to wait till a space ship could be invented to where they would be the ones on the second ship thumbing their nose at the first bouy-dropping ship!

Sounds like something that I would love to do. And in my golden years, the young children would sing songs about me. And I don't care if I ever see the new world. Knowing that it would take thousands of years to get there. Knowing that it would be a team effort that included my efforts as well as the others that helped unselfishly, and died before making their target. To bad I wont be around to see the movie.

Travelling anywhere in space with todays obsolete technology is just plain crazy. You would die before you arrive anywhere outside our solar system.
However with the hidden technology we have we can travel 100 light years in under 2 hrs... but the problem is your brain doesn't remember it.
If the universe doesn't kill you first then the secret governement will kill you for knowing too much.
It's not worth the bother.
Get married have kids and enjoy life,,,as far as space travel goes.. forget about it.

If I had no family,or any committments, and was young, why not.We make life for ourselves whereever we go.We establ;ish our own little world, love, fight grieve, fight our little wars inside ourself,so what excitement, who knows whats really out there. Many of the space jocks have come back and turned to religion and lives as preachers,so yes I would go. I would have to carefully consider the offer and the circumstances, and consider the benefits it might present to me or my family, but if all indicators were favorable I would seriously consider volunteering for such a mission.
I would really hope to see the planet myself.
