work for co over 8 yrs, some employees there have access to work from home, when i ask about this i was denied, had to resigned due to transporation issues and no public transporation access when the co had relocated over a year ago. resigned due to fact had to be closer to home in case of emergency with small child in school should any reason i have to be in school for child. had all the required equipment to work from home,no one in my certain dept had access to work from home there, but other areas some do. no choice but to resign.

Laws vary depending on where you are located; however, highly unlikely as a requirement in order to be eligible to receive unemployment is generally you have to be actively looking, available and have a means to get to and from work that you are applying for.

However, you would not have much to lose in going ahead and trying to file a claim and indicate all of the above and just apply to the required number of jobs per week (usually 3) close to your home where you could either walk or ride a bicycle to work.

Unemployment compensation rules vary by State, but the scenario you give indicates you made a choice to quit your job and would therefore likely be found not eligible.

usually not...unemployment is given if you were terminated or if you resigned for a good reason...no transportation will not be seen as a good enough reason.

no not for the first 4 weeks as you will deemed to have left your enployment for no good reason

but you will be paid a reduced rate for the first 4 weeks

if you quit/resigned you can not get unemployment.
