My mother just had surgery last Monday which has left her with the inability to lift, bend, or raise her arms over her head. She is bored to tears, though, and since her and my father just recently moved into a new home, she is doing stuff around the house that she should not be doing (hanging pictures, arranging the mantel, rearranging the spare room, etc.). What are some activities (besides reading and cross words...she's done them all) that I can bring to her today to keep her busy but that would also be "doctor approved" in terms of what she shouldn't be doing?

She can sew or cross stitch since she doesn't have to do much. In fact, all she had to do is sit in a chair and sews with her hands on her lap.

Painting pictures is a good activity to do while you are recuperating.
