The trees have a great value in wood for construction & fuel.

The land that is cleared is use to grow crops that feed people animals.

Its just that deforestation in some areas is to much at one time. It should be done more on a pace that matches the replacement rate of growth.

While forest are good, an acre of forest can not provide as much food for people as an acre of crop land. In some areas there is just not enough crop land.

As for the fact that they provide oxygen, the band of forests in the northern parts of the globe where it is to cold to grow crops provide the most oxygen of any forests. (Have you been watching Planet Earth?)

Climate change is not really scientific. Trees don't turn CO2 into O2 permenantly, all the stored carbon goes back to CO2 when the tree dies. Logging creates jobs for poor people and reduces poverty and hunger. Also allows people to use the natural beauty of timber in their homes.

creation of farmland, less risk of forest fire, less breeding ground for disease. You can always grow the trees back.

For example, New England used to be all pine forest. The pines were all cut down for lumber, and, over time, were replaced naturally with the maple trees that today make the most beautiful fall display anywhere in the world.

No more raking. More beautiful furniture. More baseball bats. You're walking into a trap. The best way to deal with this is to use humor. Good luck.

More land for farming and expansion of people. But the Cons out weight the Pros. Sorry. I think you are on a losing side of this one.
