Today's Liberals support every freedom EXCEPT the right of self-defense.

Today's Conservatives OPPOSE every freedom except the right of self-defense.

Maybe we should all become Moderates, and ditch these extremist wackos.

Over simplification indeed. How much more over simplified can you get than red or blue. This is a recipe for disaster in America. This will enable special interest to become far more powerful than any of us have ever imagined. The full spectrum of right and left is inadequate in todays politics and it must incorporate a north and south as does the Political Compass. There are many more ideologies at play in todays politics than mere right and left. America is in the midst of schizocracy. We must understand this and it requires study that most are unwilling to partake in.

Communitarian-A pragmatist and a technocrat whose focus is always on the good of the community.

Paleolibertarian-Confident in mans ability to live without government.

Theoconservative-belief that a revival of faith both at home and in the halls of power.

The Radical-Questions authority and rebel by nature he loathes the military, and hates the corporations, which he believes really runs things.

The Individualist-In between the Radical and Paleolibertarian . He is often a rationalist and a materialist. He is pro-progress,anti-tradition,and often anti-Christian. He is often a deciple of Ayn Rand.

The Neoconservative-Belief in a strong central governmentto defend the established order. He embracesdemocratic capitalism and American melting-pot pluralism; it is "conservative in its rejection of democratic socialism and anti-western multiculturalism.

The Paleoconservative-Looks to America's English and European roots. He believes in free enterprise, but is suspicious of business and government working too closely together. He puts more stock in distinction of people like language, religion, gender, ethnicity, nationality, and race. He puts less stock in v ague universal values like freedom, Democracy, capitalism, and human rights.

The Progressive-Paleocons exact opposite. The Progressive shares the radical lefts social orientation but not his aversion to government. He is quite keen on government as long as it is accountable to the "will of the people", the only authority the progressive recognize.

I agree in a more diverse intrusion of other political parties. A viable third "Moderate" party consisting of moderate Dems and moderate repubs is a great idea. Unfortunately eventually the extremists would begin "painting themselves as "moderates" such as they do now and joining the Moderate or Cetrist party. We may end up exactly back where we are now.

BZZZ. Sorry, wrong answer.

I can name you a number of freedoms liberals don't support that conservatives do:

1. The right to choose the school your child goes to.
2. The right to choose and fund the vehicle for your own retirement.
3. The right to choose and fund your own health-care plan.

you always need the extremes in order to find a happy medium, the gun control issue is a perfect example you need the psychos that think every murderer in the world has the right to own guns and you need the hippie douche bags that say we shouldn't be able to own a bb gun it keeps the issue centered and in check
