A dream catcher catches your bad dreams and lets the good dreams through. It is worthwhile making your own. They are cheap enough. Traditionally a wind chime alerts you to when a spirit is nearby as it has conections to the wind. Different variations of wind chimes are a good investment if you believe in them.

A dream catcher has more superstitious aspects to it. It is I believe a Native American craft that you hang at the head of your bed, so that the dream catcher will catch bad dreams for you. Wind chimes are just ornamental, and nice to listen to.

Traditionally, the Ojibwa tribe hung a dreamcatcher above the bed, used as a charm to protect sleeping children from nightmares. The Ojibwa believe that a dreamcatcher filters a person's dreams. Only good dreams would be allowed to filter through . . . Bad dreams would stay in the net, disappearing with the light of day.
