First of all there is no $7 million dollar Morgan. Now the 1880-O in grade Very good is worth $13.50 and goes up in value as the grades get higher, until it reaches $17,850 in a Mint State-65 grade. The reason the value is so high for the high end grade, is the New Orleans mint is famous for having weak strikes and good strong strikes that are needed to reach a Mint State Grade of 65 are very rare. With coins there are 2 things that come into place that dictate price, one is how rare the coin really is (mintage) and how rare it is in the grade you have. Hope this helps you understand. Values given are about what a dealer would pay.

the difference is the state of preservation ...if you have a worn circulated coin ....as opposed to a mint uncirculated coin.... with few bag marks ...
the more valuable coin will be the one that is closest to what it originally looked like when it came from the mint...with unaltered surface and few distractions ..i.e.bag marks...nicks,,,dings...and eviromental damages...original natural .toning is desireable to some...as original as possible there is also the rarety factor...some morgans where minted in very modest quantities..but the 1880 is not one of them...you should check for the mint mark ...what mint strucked the coin...Philadelphia...Carson City...San Francisco or New Orleans...not all 1889's are the same..
