My mate reckons that last night I agreed to help him move. I was stupidly drunk due to ANZAC day and have no recollection of the conversation.

My phone records suggest that I called him.

Do I have to go through with this now?

I'm happy to help him, I'm just wondering if I'm legally or morally bound to.

Unless there's some kind of written contract, there's no legal recourse. Even if there was something written, if you can prove you were stupid drunk, you could get out of it probably.

Morally, if you told him you would, then you should. Unless you already have something planned. If that's the case, then you should explain to your friend in the nicest way possible that you already had plans and that you're very sorry, but you were drunk when he asked you and you didn't think about those plans. Any good friend should be able to understand that. Otherwise, get moving buddy. :)

Friend law when it comes to moving...if you said it, (even while drunk) you have to do it. He in turn is required to buy you a 6 pack of your choice... or if you don't want a repeat some food like item.
