We'd have to survive until the sun explodes, and we'd have to develope a method of getting to that new planet. Both of these are way beyond our technology today, but it is still a possiblity that we develope the technology to do this, we might even get to the planet before the sun will die, which is a very long time.

The sun isn't going to explode. It will turn into a red giant and swallow the earth in 5 billion years. We don't even know what the last planet discovered is like. All we know is that it has twice the gravity of earth and about the same temperature. It may not even have an atmosphere. Plus traveling at shuttle speeds, it would take us 800,000 years to get there. By that time, the red dwarf sun will be very cold.

No, we aren't. Anyway, the Sun will not explode, and that planet is probably not a very nice place. For one thing it has over twice the gravity of Earth, so living there would be like riding in a rocket at over 2Gs for your whole life.

sun won't explode necessarily until we are all long dead. Stars typically run out of fuel and collapse onto themselves and become red dwarfs. At that point, heat generated by the sun will be cut dramatically and all life on earth will extinguish. So, we should move when we first get signs that sunlight is decreasing (in another million years from now or so )

This event will not take place until hundreds of thousand years. Not a matter to worry for us.
Till such event takes place, there are possibilities of scientific advancements which will empower us to travel such large distances. May be we develop other methods to survive under such adverse conditions. And also, we may make the planets within our reach, worth living.
I am positive, human race (or what so ever the race after evolution) will survive. Life has survived cold ages and will also survive hot ages.
By the way read red dwarf as red giant in the other explanation.
